About Patricia D. Raya, President
Patricia started CPM Resources, Inc., in 1995, a consulting and training services company whose core business is helping clients strengthen competencies in leadership development, change management, cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, and project management. The courses for leadership and project management have been so effective that one of her clients established an internal certification program for employees who complete the course. All of the CPM courses emphasize the inevitability of change and the various ways in which individuals can lead people and process in transition. A dialectical approach to transitional management is one of the hallmarks of Patricia's method.
Prior to starting her own company, Patricia was employed as a Senior Consultant and Southwest Regional Director for a California-based project management consulting firm. In this role, she worked with hi-tech, manufacturing, and service groups providing cross-functional team building and project management training and consulting.
In 1987 Patricia started a global training operation from 'scratch' that ultimately produced revenues in excess of $2M annually for a Chicago-based software company. She developed the infrastructure, curricula, and policies and procedures for growing and managing a global operation along with a worldwide staff of 20 plus consultants, trainers, technicians, and writers. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Patricia initiated a corporate-wide change management program and facilitated more than 200 European-based employees through the program. One aspect of the program included identifying individual work styles with the DISCŪ work style assessment and helping people learn to work differently. Helping people move through the transition from old ways to new ways of doing things is another hallmark of Patricia's approach. In 1994 Patricia was asked to use her talents to organize another operation from 'scratch.' She started a Tactical Marketing group responsible for generating sales leads and providing marketing support to the North American Sales team. The operation was later modeled by the company's European Sales organization.
Patricia was certified by the American Management Association in 1995 to teach project management and team building throughout the United States. For many years she served as an adjunct faculty member for the following colleges and universities: Scottsdale Community College, Mesa Community College, College of DuPage, Northern Illinois University, Oklahoma City Community College, and Oklahoma State University teaching a variety of communication classes.
Patricia has traveled extensively throughout the U.S., U.K, Europe, and Asia working with and training multi-cultural clients and employees. Some of the companies she has worked with include: Abbott Labs, Allstate Insurance, Anchen Pharmaceuticals, Banco de Mexico, Bank of Nova Scotia, Deutsche Bank, Discover Card, Hewlett Packard, Intel Corporation, ING Bank, Macau Telecom, National Westminster Bank of England, Novo Nordisk, Resumix Inc., Rabo Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Society Generale Bank of France, Sumitomo Trust of Japan, Schein Pharmaceuticals, Verity, Inc., and Watson Pharmaceuticals.
Patricia is currently working on her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She also holds a M.A. degree in Journalism from Northern Illinois University, a B.A. degree in Communications, English, and Theatre from Eastern Illinois University, and a diploma in Homeopathy from the British Institute of Homeopathy.
